About the role

Role Overview

The Accountant (Payables & Receivables) is responsible for managing the company’s financial transactions related to suppliers, contractors, clients, and partners. This role ensures accurate recording, timely payments, efficient collections, and compliance with both local and international accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor outstanding liabilities and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Generate and issue client invoices for petroleum products, consultancy, and service contracts.
  • Track collections, follow up on overdue accounts, and manage credit control.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer accounts and receipts.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on payables and receivables.
  • Support management with cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis.
  • Assist in audits and ensure compliance with IFRS and Nigerian tax regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Implement internal controls to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with operations teams in waste management, haulage, and marine services to align financial records with service delivery.
  • Provide financial insights to support project costing, budgeting, and profitability analysis.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in oil & gas or related industries.
  • Professional certification (ACA, ACCA) required.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and petroleum industry regulations.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.

Salary

N500,000 - N600,000 per month (Net Salary) (However, the salary can be negotiated upward depending on the candidate’s experience).
