About the role

Accountant (Banking)

Mecer Consulting Limited is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage financial records, prepare comprehensive reports, and ensure accurate transaction documentation in a banking environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial reports for management and maintain accurate accounting records
  • Record financial transactions and maintain savings, loan and repayment records
  • Perform bank reconciliations and ensure proper filing of financial documents
  • Support internal controls, audit activities and compliance checks
  • Monitor outstanding loan balances, defaults, income and expenditure
  • Support budgeting, financial planning and statutory/cooperative reporting requirements

Requirements

  • Degree or HND qualification in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field
  • 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a cooperative, microfinance, financial institution or similar environment
  • Banking experience is mandatory
  • ICAN, ANAN, ACCA or related professional certification is an added advantage
