About the role
Sales Engineer – Thermal & Steam Engineering
We are seeking a Sales Engineer specializing in Thermal & Steam Engineering to drive sales and business growth of boilers and related thermal solutions across Nigeria. You will identify customer needs, provide technical solutions, manage key accounts, and achieve sales targets through effective pipeline management and client engagement.
Responsibilities
- Understand customer needs and provide technical solutions with boiler and thermal products
- Demonstrate knowledge of boilers, steam accessories, steam traps, energy efficiency solutions, and heat exchangers
- Conduct extensive travel to visit customers, maintain call schedules, and report activities
- Achieve order booking targets (value and number of orders) for assigned territory and product lines
- Understand boilers/heaters on oil/gas/solid fuel and various fuel combustion processes
- Coordinate with head office and branch teams for offers, orders, payments, and customer service
- Provide accurate order booking projections and lead/prospect reports
- Generate and maximize cross-sales opportunities
- Manage enquiry system from lead generation to order closure
- Develop relationships with OEMs, consultants, and EPCs
- Support business development and promotion strategy; build case studies and testimonials
- Serve as single point of contact for customers across multiple product lines and functions
- Provide input on new product development, pricing, market expansion, and win/loss analysis
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering
- 4–8 years of professional experience
- Proven experience in thermal and steam engineering, boilers, absorption chillers, and/or water and air pollution control systems
- Strong technical, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally across hierarchies in matrix organization
- Passion for networking and building customer relationships
- Ability to develop in-depth knowledge of multiple products
- Contracting, negotiation, and strong commercial acumen
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
- Ability to work with multicultural teams
- Valid driving licence and passport
- Willingness to travel extensively within Nigeria
Salary
USD 1,000 – 1,500 monthly (approximately ₦1,500,000 – ₦2,250,000 depending on exchange rate)
Additional benefits include yearly incentive (paid in July), Christmas bonus, and travel/expenses as per company policy.
