Head of Operations - Commercial Plantation (Calabar)

Oversee all farm operations for a large-scale commercial plantation in Calabar, ensuring profitability and efficient management of land, crops, and staff. This role involves leading operational planning, agronomic practices, and stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end plantation operations: land preparation, planting, crop management, harvesting, and post-harvest.
• Develop and implement annual operational plans, budgets, and KPIs.
• Lead, train and manage farm supervisors, field workers, and admin staff.
• Ensure best agronomic practices to maximize yield and quality.
• Manage farm machinery, inputs, inventory, and cost control.
• Ensure farm security, HSE compliance, and proper record keeping.
• Provide weekly/monthly performance and financial reports to management.
• Manage relationships with suppliers, off-takers, and host communities.

Requirements

• BSc/HND in Agriculture, Agronomy, Farm Management, or related field. MSc is an advantage.
• 7+ years experience in commercial farm/plantation management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience with plantation crops (Oil Palm, Cocoa, Cassava, Rubber, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of tropical agronomy, mechanization, and farm P&L.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
• High integrity and ability to work with minimal supervision.
