Senior Accountant

Mecer Consulting Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain compliance with statutory regulations and ISO 9001:2015 standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements
• Manage general ledger accounts, reconcile balances, and oversee month-end and year-end closing
• Monitor project budgets and costs, track variances, and provide financial insights to project managers
• Develop and maintain cost control systems aligned with ISO documentation standards
• Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure readiness for ISO and statutory audits
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processing
• Prepare tax computations and filings in compliance with Nigerian tax laws
• Generate financial reports and dashboards including cash flow, profitability, and cost-to-completion analysis
• Support procurement and contract teams with financial evaluations and payment schedules
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies, SOPs, and ISO standards
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff
• Participate in risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with ACA/ICAN certification
• Master's degree or MBA (mandatory)
• Minimum 10–11 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and ISO 9001:2015 documentation requirements
• Proficiency in accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems) and MS Excel
