Lead Electrical & Grid Engineer
Ramos Electric Power Limited is developing a greenfield 600 MW lignite-fired power plant in Obomkpa, Delta State. The project is in the front-end engineering design phase and requires an experienced Lead Electrical & Grid Engineer to act as the technical authority for the plant's electrical systems, grid connection, and private SEZ network.
Responsibilities
- Develop the electrical design basis, single-line diagrams, and auxiliary-power load list.
- Specify generators, transformers, switchgear, DC/UPS, and emergency supplies.
- Lead the TCN grid-connection work, including Grid Connection Agreement studies.
- Design the private 132 kV SEZ network and 33 kV mine supply.
- Plan frequency and voltage control, load shedding, and island operation.
- Define protection, metering, SCADA, and telecoms requirements.
- Write electrical sections of EPC Employer’s Requirements and lead technical bid evaluation.
- Support NERC license, grid connection agreements, and SEZ supply contracts.
Requirements
- B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Electrical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- At least 12 years in power generation or transmission, with 5+ years in power-plant electrical design or grid connection on projects ≥100 MW.
- Hands-on experience with 330 kV or 132 kV substations and generator specification.
- Working knowledge of ETAP, PSS/E, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
- Knowledge of IEC standards and Nigerian Grid Code.
- COREN registration or eligibility to register within 3 months.
- Fluency in English.
