Branch Accountant

About the Role

Sundry Markets Limited is recruiting an organized and detail-oriented Branch Accountant to serve as the guardian of financial integrity at the branch level. You will drive all accounting functions, ensure strict adherence to company policies, and maintain accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and issue daily floats to cashiers; ensure safe handling and timely bank lodgment of all cash
• Reconcile cash and POS transactions daily, balancing tills and investigating discrepancies
• Vet and verify invoices for accuracy prior to posting on the ERP system
• Respond to and resolve POS disputes from customers efficiently
• Prepare monthly shortage reports and write off transferred stock between departments
• Ensure robust financial controls are in place and adhered to; perform bank reconciliations
• Post branch revenue and transactions into appropriate journals on the ERP system

Requirements

• Minimum B.Sc./HND in Accountancy or related field
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role
• NYSC Discharged, Exemption, or Exclusion letter (mandatory)
• ICAN Certification (advantageous)
• Proven experience in accounting or cash management
• Strong understanding of reconciliation processes and internal controls
• Proficiency in ERP software
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to handle cash securely and responsibly
• Excellent problem-solving skills regarding POS and transactional disputes
