Generator & Maintenance Manager

Proforce Limited is seeking an experienced and hands-on Generator & Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and power generation systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in diesel generator repairs, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment maintenance while effectively leading a team to ensure maximum equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and minimal downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the servicing, overhauling, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel generators to minimize operational downtime.
  • Perform diagnostics, servicing, preventive maintenance, and repairs on diesel generators to ensure maximum reliability and performance.
  • Install, commission, and test generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and related electrical components.
  • Ensure optimal performance, reliability, and uptime of diesel generators and power distribution systems.
  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Develop and implement Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensuring full preventative maintenance is carried out.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical faults in a timely manner.
  • Manage the team to ensure machine availability, reactively managing dysfunctional machinery with the Shift management.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize maintenance processes without disrupting operations.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, generator efficiency, and maintenance trends to optimize operating costs.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels, and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required.
  • Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works.
  • Ensure daily and weekly equipment checks are carried out to maintain smooth and uninterrupted site operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant post-graduation experience.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and mechanical utilities.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Competent in problem-solving, team building, planning, and decision-making.
  • Strategic thinking and strong execution skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS is an advantage).
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Good understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards.
