Backend Developer

Human Edge Dimension Consulting is seeking a Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable server-side applications. This is a full-time role based in Ilupeju, Lagos, reporting to the CTO.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and APIs
• Build and manage databases, data models, and server-side architecture
• Develop secure and scalable solutions that support business growth
• Integrate third-party services, payment gateways, and external APIs
• Optimize application performance, reliability, and responsiveness
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and technical issues
• Implement security and data protection measures in line with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless system integration
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for applications and systems
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements
• Ensure applications are properly tested before production deployment

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 3–5 years of work experience as a backend developer
• Strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel framework
• Experience building RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of database design (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with authentication systems (JWT, sessions)
• Experience with version control (Git)
• Working knowledge of Node.js
• Understanding of API integration and third-party services
• Basic knowledge of server management (Linux, Nginx)

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Express.js or NestJS
• Familiarity with Docker
