Transport Manager

The Transport Manager is responsible for ensuring that trucks are always available for the movement of products, with minimal downtime, breakdowns, and maintenance expenses. This role involves managing the fleet, scheduling maintenance, tracking truck movements, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure trucks are properly maintained and arranged for repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Schedule, maintain, and track trucks.
  • Assume responsibility for planning, scheduling maintenance, and managing all company trucks and drivers.
  • Ensure quality of work (maintenance and repair) on fleet and equipment.
  • Update fleet maintenance job cards.
  • Develop and implement fleet preventive maintenance programs.
  • Monitor and track trucks from dispatch to destination and generate required reports.
  • Supervise fleet and ensure truck drivers adhere to schedules and routes.
  • Plan daily transport operations and ensure safe delivery of products.
  • Track fleet usage and maintain accurate inventory of replaced parts and equipment.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and good housekeeping to avoid infractions on statutory regulations.
  • Communicate maintenance requirements and implement approved correction actions.
  • Liaise with Admin to get necessary approvals for repairs and maintenance.
  • Inspect trucks and ensure all documentation is up to date.
  • Assist in developing maintenance budget by providing input relative to policy, costs, and other metrics.
  • Prepare and submit regular maintenance/repair reports and parts usage.
  • Monitor transport spending to ensure it aligns with approved budgets.
  • Investigate and resolve transport-related customer complaints.
  • Ensure the safety of the transport fleet and compliance with regulatory/legal requirements.
